Two-needle machines sew two parallel rows in one pass, so topstitching on jeans and workwear stays evenly spaced. Zigzag machines swing the needle from side to side, so the seam stretches with elastic and lies flat.

An overlock trims the edge and wraps it in thread in one pass, so cut edges stop fraying. The 5-thread safety stitch also sews a chain seam beside the overlock, so trouser and jeans seams are closed and neatened at once.

Two or more needles with a looper underneath make a flat stitch that stretches, so T-shirt hems and sportswear seams do not crack when the garment is pulled on.

A buttonhole machine sews and cuts each hole to the same length and density every cycle, so the buttonholes match from the first shirt of an order to the last.

They are local names for standard industrial machines. A straight stitch or straight sewing machine is a single-needle lockstitch, such as the Juki DDL-7000A. A neating machine, overlocking machine or serger is an overlock, such as the MO-6814S. A button fixing or button attaching machine is a button sewing machine, such as the LK-1903C. A flatlock or interlock is a coverstitch machine, such as the MF-7523.
Juki is a Japanese company, founded in Tokyo in 1938. Juki states that it builds its industrial sewing machines in five factories in Japan, China and Vietnam, led by its Ohtawara factory in Japan. The country of manufacture is on each machine's plate, and we confirm it for any model before you order.
We are the authorised distributor for both, and many factories run both. Juki is a Japanese maker founded in Tokyo in 1938; Jack is a Chinese maker founded in 1995 in Taizhou. For shirt and trouser seams, factories compare the Juki DDL-7000A with the Jack A5E-B AMH2. Both are direct-drive lockstitch machines with an automatic thread trimmer, rated at 5,000 stitches a minute; the A5E-B also senses each fabric and sets itself, and its sealed oil pan means it never leaks oil. For knitwear seams, they compare the Juki MO-6814S 4-thread overlock with the Jack C7 Urus: both run at 7,000 stitches a minute, and the C7 Urus changes its foot pressure at each cross seam.
