Eastman: generations of cutting innovation

The machine that started it all

In 1888, Eastman introduced an early electric cloth-cutting machine from its factory in Buffalo, New York, helping move the industry beyond manual shearing. Eastman states it still manufactures in Buffalo and engineers its machines in-house.

For most cutting rooms the EC-3N-L end cutter squares the lay, and the round knives handle straight runs and curves across light to heavy fabrics. For deep stacks of denim, leather or technical fabric, the Brute and Blue Streak straight knives add the power. Does Al Borj hold Eastman blades and spare parts in the UAE?

What is the difference between an end cutter, a round knife and a straight knife?

An end cutter such as the EC-3N-L squares off the end of each fabric spread so the lay is accurate before cutting. A round knife uses a rotating disc blade and is fast for straight lines and large curves. A straight knife (Blue Streak, Brute) uses a vertical reciprocating blade and is best for high ply counts and intricate shapes. Many factories run all three. Al Borj can advise on the right combination for your product mix.

Does Al Borj provide installation and training for Eastman machines?
