Which Juki overlock: MO-6816S, MO-6814S, MO-6804S or MO-6704DA
For woven garments, choose the MO-6816S: a 5-thread safety stitch that sews the seam and neatens the edge in one pass, so one machine does the work of a lockstitch and an overlock. The MO-6814S is the 4-thread overlock for knit seams, and the MO-6804S the 3-thread for neatening edges. The MO-6704DA is a 3-thread for white and pale fabric: its needle bar and upper looper need no oil.
- Choose the MO-6816S (5 threads) if you sew trousers, jeans, shirts, uniforms or workwear in woven fabric.
- Choose the MO-6814S (4 threads) if you sew knit seams on T-shirts, polo shirts and sportswear.
- Choose the MO-6804S (3 threads) if the seam is sewn on a lockstitch and the overlock only neatens the edge.
- Choose the MO-6704DA (3 threads, semi-dry head) if you sew white and light-coloured fabric.

3, 4 or 5 threads: what is the difference?
- 3 threads (MO-6804S, MO-6704DA): one needle wraps the cut edge. Use it where the seam itself is sewn on a lockstitch, to stop woven panels fraying, and for light knits and rolled hems.
- 4 threads (MO-6814S): a second needle, 2.0 mm inside the first, adds a second row. So the overlock sews the seam and neatens the edge in one pass, and the seam stretches with the knit.
- 5 threads (MO-6816S): a 2-thread chainstitch seam beside a 3-thread overedge. So a woven seam that takes strain, on trousers or workwear, is sewn and neatened in one pass.
Why the MO-6816S for woven garments?
- One pass instead of two. The seam and the overedge are sewn together, so one operator does the work of a lockstitch and a separate overlock.
- Builds for denim and heavy cloth. FF6-50H and FH6-50H for denim at 6,500 spm; FF6-60H and FH6-60H for heavy fabric, with a #21 needle and a 4.5 mm stitch at 6,000 spm.
- Less handling. The /DD23 build adds a tape cutter, an automatic foot lifter and chain-off thread suction, so the operator does not cut the chain by hand.
MO-6804S or MO-6704DA?
Both are 1-needle, 3-thread overlocks at 7,000 spm, and both keep garments clean in normal use. The MO-6704DA goes further: its needle bar and upper looper need no oil, so no oil can reach the fabric there. The MO-6804S is Juki's standard 3-thread overlock, with a needle cooler, and it replaces the MO-6704S.
What is an overlock, or neating machine?
An overlock trims the edge and wraps it in thread in one pass, so cut edges stop fraying and knit seams stretch without breaking. Buyers also call it a serger, an overlocker or, in Ghana and East Africa, a neating machine.
What about T-shirt hems?
Hems are sewn on a coverstitch (flatlock) machine, not an overlock: the MF-7523 for bottom hems and the MF-7923 for sleeve hems and necklines.
How does Juki compare with Jack?
For knitwear, our Jack or Juki guide sets the MO-6814S against the Jack C7 Urus.

Questions and answers
Which Juki overlock should I buy?
The MO-6816S 5-thread safety stitch for woven garments such as trousers, shirts and uniforms, and the MO-6814S 4-thread for knit seams on T-shirts and polo shirts. For neatening edges only, the MO-6804S, or the MO-6704DA on white fabric.
4-thread or 5-thread overlock?
A 4-thread (MO-6814S) sews a seam that stretches with knits. A 5-thread safety stitch (MO-6816S) sews a chainstitch seam beside a 3-thread overedge, the stronger seam for wovens that take strain.
Which Juki overlock is best for denim?
The MO-6816S denim builds, FF6-50H and FH6-50H, at up to 6,500 spm. For heavier cloth, the 60H builds take a #21 needle and a 4.5 mm stitch.
Is a neating machine the same as an overlock?
Yes. A neating machine, serger or overlocker trims the raw edge and wraps it in thread in one pass; the Juki MO-6816S, MO-6814S, MO-6804S and MO-6704DA are all overlocks.
What is the price of a Juki overlock, and what warranty does it have?
Price on request: send the model, the number of threads, the quantity and your city on WhatsApp, and we reply usually within one working day. Juki machines from Al Borj come with a 1-year warranty.
