Organ Needle Co., Ltd. traces its origins to 1920 in Japan, where it began making gramophone needles before turning its focus to sewing machine needles under the Organ brand. How do I know which Organ needle system my machine needs?

Every industrial sewing machine is built around a specific needle system, a code that defines shank diameter, length and eye position. The most common in garment production is DB×1 (16×231) for flatbed lockstitch machines such as the Juki DDL-8100E and DDL-5550N. Walking-foot machines use DP×17, overlocks use DC×27, embroidery uses DB×K5. Share your machine make and model and Al Borj will confirm the correct Organ system and size, and what we can supply.

What needle size should I use for my fabric?

As a general guide, finer fabrics call for finer needles and heavier fabrics for heavier ones. Chiffon and voile at the light end (Nm 65 to 70), standard cottons and knits in the middle (Nm 80 to 90), and denim, canvas, leather and upholstery at the heavy end (Nm 100 to 130). The right size helps prevent skipped stitches and fabric damage. Al Borj can advise the exact Organ size for your material and machine.
