Why the DDL-7000A as the base lockstitch?
- Trim and backtack done for the operator. The thread is trimmed at the end of every seam, and the backtack is set on the panel in the head. So the operator never stops to cut threads or reverse by hand.
- Direct drive. A 550 W servomotor on the main shaft starts the machine quickly and pushes the needle through thick seams.
- Shirts and trousers on one machine. Juki states it sews from light fabric to medium-weight denim; the DDL-7000AH-7 takes heavy fabric.
DDL-7000A or DDL-9000C?
The DDL-9000C if you sew many different fabrics or need the same seam on every machine. Motors drive its feed, so the feed locus, feed dog height and stitch length are set on the panel, stored for each fabric and copied to other machines by NFC or USB. The DDL-7000A for steady runs of shirts, trousers and uniforms.
Do I need automatic features at all?
Not always. On the DDL-8100e the operator trims the thread by hand and reverses with the feed lever, so the head has no panel or electronics. For a faster plain head, Juki rates the DDL-8700 at 5,500 spm against 4,500.
DDL-9000C: FMS or SMS?
Both are medium-weight types with a semi-dry head, digital feed and 5,000 spm. The FMS (Premium Digital) sets the needle thread tension and foot pressure electronically and changes them at multi-layer sections, and its auto-lifter is standard. On the SMS (Digital), both are spring-set by hand and the auto-lifter is an option.
