Jack or Juki: which is better for a garment factory?

Neither brand is better at every job. We are the authorised distributor for both, and on matching models the speeds are close. Choose by the features each station needs and the machines your mechanics know.

  • Choose Jack if you want machines that sense the fabric and set themselves (A5E-B AMH2) or an AI overlock for thick seams (C7 Urus), with a 2-year warranty from us.
  • Choose Juki if your mechanics already know Juki heads, or you want Juki's direct-drive DDL-7000A on a line that already runs Juki.
  • Run both if you are adding to an existing line; one brand per operation keeps parts and settings simple.

Jack A5E-B AMH2 or Juki DDL-7000A?

Both are direct-drive lockstitch machines with an automatic thread trimmer, rated at 5,000 spm with a 5 mm stitch and a 13 mm knee lift. The A5E-B adds Jack's AI fabric sensing, which sets the penetration and feed force for each fabric, plus a dry head with a sealed oil pan and a 305 mm arm. The DDL-7000A comes in two builds: AS-7 for light to medium fabric and AH-7 for heavy fabric such as denim.

Jack C7 Urus or Juki MO-6814S?

Both are 4-thread overlocks rated at 7,000 spm. The C7 Urus senses each thick seam and raises the feed force up to 9.2 N·m, and it has automatic modes and a voice guide. The MO-6814S is Juki's 4-thread overlock for knit seams on T-shirts, polo shirts and sportswear.

Who makes them?

Juki is a Japanese company, founded in Tokyo in 1938, with factories in Japan, China and Vietnam. Jack is a Chinese company, founded in 1995 and based in Taizhou.

What changes the running cost?

  • Drive: the Jack A5E-B and the Juki DDL-7000A both have the motor in the head; Juki rates the DDL-7000A at 210 VA.
  • Power supply: the A5E-B runs on 220 V, 50-60 Hz; Juki builds the DDL-7000A for single-phase or 3-phase 220 V.
  • Oil: the A5E-B's dry head and sealed oil pan mean it never leaks oil onto the fabric.
