Which Juki walking foot: DU-1181N, LU-1508NH or LU-1560N
The DU-1181N is our best-selling Juki walking foot: its walking foot and feed dog move the top and bottom layers together, so heavy uniforms, jackets, bags and leather feed without the layers shifting. The LU-1508NH is for extra heavy work such as webbing, belts, tents and canvas. The LU-1560N sews two parallel rows in one pass.
- Choose the DU-1181N if you sew heavy uniforms, workwear jackets, bags, leather or upholstery, with thread up to #8.
- Choose the LU-1508NH if you sew extra heavy material, such as webbing, belts, tents and canvas, with thread up to #1.
- Choose the LU-1560N if a seam needs two even rows in one pass, such as twin topstitching on seats, sofas and bags.

Why the DU-1181N for uniforms and workwear?
- The layers stay together. The walking foot pushes the top layer while the feed dog pushes the bottom one, so multi-layer seams on jackets, belts and padded parts feed without pitch errors.
- Room for piping and tape. The knee lifter raises the foot to 15 mm, which Juki built for piping and tape attaching, such as reflective tape on workwear.
- Long stitches both ways. Up to 9 mm forward and in reverse, set by dial, for topstitching on heavy cloth.
- Fewer bobbin changes. The horizontal double-capacity hook holds a larger bobbin, so long heavy seams run longer between changes.
When do I need the LU-1508NH?
When the material or the thread is too heavy for the DU-1181N. It has a 38 mm needle bar stroke, a long 190R needle and a dual-tension system, so it holds tension with thread up to #1 through thick stacks. Juki's complete rectangular feed moves the needle, walking foot and feed dog together, so webbing, cargo straps, tents and heavy leather feed without gathered stitches.
When do I need the LU-1560N?
When a seam needs two parallel rows, such as twin topstitching on car seats, sofas and bags. Juki builds it with a needle gauge of 4.8, 6.4, 7.9, 9.5 or 12.7 mm, chosen when you order, and each needle has its own large hook. The LU-1560N-7 adds an automatic thread trimmer, automatic reverse feed and a pneumatic foot lifter.
Walking foot or a normal lockstitch?
On thick, padded or slippery layers, the walking foot: a normal lockstitch feeds from below only, so the top layer can creep or pucker. On shirting and light trousers, a lockstitch such as the DDL-7000A is faster, at 5,000 spm against 2,000; see which Juki lockstitch.
Which power supply do they need?
Juki's specifications for these three heads give no supply voltage, because the motor is chosen separately and fitted under the table. Tell us your supply, single-phase or 3-phase, and we fit a motor to match.
