The MG-2U finishes the edge of an emblem flat, rather than the raised, high coverage edge produced by the MG-3U. Merrow positions it as a faster and more refined alternative to using an embroidery machine to sew flat edges on patches and emblems.
Merrow states that the machine operates under 90 dBA while running at 5500 RPM, that it uses lightweight moving parts and needle bearings machined to high tolerances so it starts and stops quickly between pieces, and that it carries a ten year warranty.
