What it is
The overlock model of Pegasus's LEFT HAND series: a left-handed machine that works as the mirror image of a normal right-hand overlock, so it can sew the left edge of an article. Pegasus calls its left-handed machines a world first. The series also has the E32L safety stitch and the E22L double chainstitch.

Why this model
Paired with a right-hand overlock, both edges are sewn in one pass instead of two. Choose the E52L to overedge, and the E32L when the edge needs a safety stitch seam.
Building a twin-edge seaming line with the E52L
In a twin-edge unit the E52L or E32L sits opposite a right-hand Pegasus machine with the same stitch, and the article runs between them. We quote the left-hand and right-hand heads together, with tables, delivery and installation.

What the E52L does on a factory floor
Left-hand head
Sews the left edge while its partner sews the right
Pegasus designed the LEFT HAND series to be used together with normal right-hand machines and built into automatic sewing units in which both edges of an article are seamed at the same time. Pegasus names sheets, blankets and towels as the work where the time saving is greatest.

E52L-131: 2 needles, 4 threads
The E52L-131/514-353W is Pegasus's 2-needle 4-thread plain seaming model: 2 mm needle space, 2, 3, 4 or 5 mm overedge, light to medium fabric, 8,000 sti/min. The E52L-130/504-253W is the 1-needle 3-thread version with 3 to 6 mm overedge, at the same speed.
On the factory floorThe E52L-131 sews a 2-needle, 4-thread overlock seam at up to 8,000 sti/min, so each edge on light to medium fabric is joined and overedged as it passes.
E32L safety stitch
When the edge needs a seam that holds
The E32L-430/515(6)-233 sews a 2-needle 5-thread safety stitch with 3 or 5 mm needle space and 3 to 6 mm overedge at 7,500 sti/min. The E32L-450/515(6)-335 is the light to heavy build at 6,500 sti/min, with 5 or 6 mm overedge.
On the factory floorThe E32L sews a 2-needle, 5-thread safety stitch, so edges on heavier fabric get a seam that holds as well as an overedge, in one operation.

KH chain cutter
Pegasus's flat type vacuum thread chain cutter is the listed option for the E52L and E32L.
Turn up hemming builds: E52L-230 and -231 with 3 mm or 1.5 mm overedge, 1 needle, 2 or 3 threads, 7,500 to 8,000 sti/min. All LEFT HAND models have fully automatic lubrication; the E52L subclasses carry W, Pegasus's wide cloth plate.

They are all Pegasus LEFT HAND series machines. The E52L is the overlock (503, 504 and 514), the E32L the safety stitch and the E22L the double chainstitch. We have also quoted the ETS32L-452 left-hand safety stitch; Pegasus keeps an ETS32L manual, but its current series page lists the E32L-430 and E32L-450. People also write E 52L, E52L-131 or left hand overlock.

Is the E52L only for automatic units?
Pegasus designed the LEFT HAND series to work with normal right-hand machines in automatic units that seam both edges of an article at once, and that is where most are used. It sews like any overlock, but the fabric runs on the other side of the needle, so it is usually bought in pairs with a right-hand machine.
Can you equip a whole line, not just this machine?
Yes. Tell us what you make and your daily output target. We recommend the machine mix for the line, from lockstitch to overlock, safety stitch, coverstitch and special machines, and can visit your factory for an assessment first.
Which subclass do I need for sheets or towels?
For plain seaming of light to medium fabric Pegasus lists the E52L-131/514-353W (2 needles, 4 threads) and the E52L-130/504-253W (1 needle, 3 threads). For a safety stitch on heavier blankets the E32L-450 covers light to heavy fabric. The E52L-230 and -231 are turn up hemming builds. Send a sample and we confirm the subclass and gauge.
What does the code E52L-131/514-353-W2X5 mean?
In Pegasus's code, 13 is plain seaming of light to medium fabric and 1 the model number, 514 is the stitch type, and the next three digits give the sewing capacity, needle plate and feed dog pitch (3 is a 1.6 mm pitch). W is the wide cloth plate, and 2X5 is the gauge: 2 mm needle space and 5 mm overedge.
Can you supply the manual, parts book and genuine parts for the Pegasus E52L?
Pegasus publishes the instruction manual and parts list for the LEFT HAND series in its online catalogue, and we quote genuine Pegasus parts by part number, from loopers and knives to needle plates and feed dogs. Send the code on the machine's plate, or a photo of it, on WhatsApp and we find the part.
